I have a quick question, I've been reading that now IL along with 5 other states will need more than just an ID (license or state ID) when traveling. We obviously aren't able to provide a US passport, so what other options do we have when we want to travel?

I've had to do lots of traveling now with my job and now I'm not entirely sure how to tell them that my ID wont work. Not just for work but for vacation as well.

Any suggestions?

They've been extended into 2018. But if/when the time comes that you cannot use your ID, you could use your work permit, it is official identification given to you by the department of homeland security. Or your home country's passport, that is also accepted

Your home passport or EAD card. I suggest EAD card as is much easier to replace then your home passport.

Im from Chicago. Us from IL do not have to worry about it until 2018. Hopefully IL will get up to par. Otherwise, using the EAD should be suffice.

Here's a full list of acceptable IDs for US flight travel. I don't think work permits are listed as eligible documentation.

It also doesn't say a work permit isn't an acceptable form either
