Due to the cancellation of public attention in the immigration service, the high-tech industry asks to protect dreamers and extend their DACA applications for two years, in response to the pandemic.

The request was made after the Office of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the cancellation of all services to the public, including biometric fingerprinting.

The Deferred Action (DACA), which protects some 700,000 young people who entered before the age of 16 from deportation and who are known as dreamers, also grants a renewable employment authorization every two years.

"The news that USCIS is closing its offices due to the global coronavirus pandemic means that DACA beneficiaries, whose work permits and deportation protections that will be expiring in the coming weeks and months can no longer be renewed, puts tens of thousands of these people at risk of losing their jobs and being deported , "said Todd Schulte, president of FWD.us .

The FWD.us organization is a lobby group made up of leaders from the technology community, including Mark Zukerberg , founder of the social network Facebook; Reid Hoffman, founder of Linkedin; Erick Schmidt, President of Google; and Drew Houston, founder of Dropbox.

Schulte further said that, due to the public health emergency and the announcement in January that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is ready to proceed in the event that the Supreme Court rules against DACA , "it is absolutely imperative that the Trump government withdraws its claim before the highest court of law and allows the program and its renewals to continue in force. ”

The President of FWD.us suggested that the extension of DACA benefits should be done immediately and automatically.

Schulte further said that, "while some categories of visas may be extended without substantial impact, DACA and other types of visas and programs would intensify the devastating consequences for our economy and our communities ."

"Failing to take steps to ensure that DACA recipients seeking to renew their permits can do so without interruption means that the government seeks to take advantage of the global health crisis to circumvent multi-court decisions that require USCIS to continue to process applications for renewal for DACA . Nice,
The government will be against the wall on this.

This is what I have been saying all along. This coronavirus crisis has many cons for us, some DACA lost their jobs... others will struggles financially.... but the HUGE pro is that it can lead to a major extension or to a straight legalization because the last thing the government wants is to add to the chaos.

Legalization is a tremendous stretch. They are still struggling to pass the Chinese Coronavirus bill.

At best we might get $1,200 and a measurable but small possibility for an automatic DACA extension.

If they really cared they'd put it into the Chinese Coronavirus bill as part of pork, but nope. Nothing.

They will have to do something if the Supreme Court comes Down hard on us.

They are very happy doing nothing and letting us get deported one by one.

They don't have to do anything, and as much as I have been cheerleading your cause its obvious they dont have to, otherwise they would've done something by now.

Don't get me wrong, I do hope something passes, but I don't see it happening in a Trump administration unless something else happens where he can use us as bargaining chips.

Thats all we are to the 60% of republicans, just bargaining chips.

Perhaps in a biden administration, assuming he wins at all.

I do hope I am wrong though. Time will tell.

The Supreme Court ending DACA is the bargaining chip. I don’t quite get what you’re trying to get at.

We will see if you are right shortly, but I don't see it happening.

What I mean is that there is a faction in the republican ranks that wants nothing to do with us, any relief to us is seen as complete and total amnesty.

Most of them already see DACA as amnesty via executive order and will have nothing less than our deportation.

That’s fine and all but rule number one in Congress is that deadlines make deals. This is the ultimate deadline for congress. As for you comment about anti immigration purists, what happened to the fiscal conservative purists? Everything changes are the game changes.

The old package had shit like giving corporations billions with no accountability.
