These are what they call the "poison pill" amendments, which are meant to be crazy so that a whole party does not vote for the bill and it fails. The gang of eight will unanimously vote against these bills, so we at least will have 4 republicans voting against these bills in a democrat controlled senate. The 11 bills in the article have really small chance of passing.

ii thought i heard of the gang of 8 actually saying that they will against such amendments , am i correct ?
