I've traveled from Boston to New Orleans and then from New Orleans to California. I was fine with just my passport (no visa), the TSA just checked that the name on my passport matched my boarding pass. I was a bit nervous though.. I always get nervous when I travel southern in southern states.

But here is a story, when I was in college I used to have to fly cross country. one time I was visibly nervous while I was in the security line at an airport in a northern border state. The TSA agent just told me, "it's going to be okay a lot of people have a fear of flying, don't worry you'll be fine". I think it helped that I had my college sweater on and my school bag.
How were you visibly nervous? Were you shaking and sweating or something?

I've only traveled by car or bus from here to NYC, but you should be okay, don't worry.

i must have been, I think I just looked disoriented more than anything. It didn't help that it was a really early morning flight.

Delta Airlines? I've flown them before (not to NOLA) and they were the same as any other airline. As long as your name matches your ID/passport name you shouldn't encounter any trouble I don't think.

What airplane you're taking has nothing to do with if it's safe or not lol all I know is if you're flying out of McAllen Texas there is a boarder patrol agent sitting there asking if you're a citizen.
