Okay so I'm freaking out right now, I was just approved today!!! Even though it is a renewal, I feel so excited as the first time!

The approval notice got right on time since last week I went and applied for a really great job (couldn't wait before someone else got it!) and I was hired the same day. Wow, second time this happens to me. Anyway, I knew there would be some friction once HR contacted me for my EAD and so it happened. I got a call from them today asking me about my legal status (I let my DACA expired—I know, I know…), I explained them that the odds of me NOT getting re-approved were relative low (so they wouldn't just cancel my employment process) and told them I would call USCIS for an update. I was freaking out, I felt so bad because the case status Web site had stopped showing updates for me—I felt so powerless that I was running at a risk of losing a great job—a job with so many benefits for me. I felt frustrated so I decided to take a nap. When I wake up, I decided to check my case, "Why not" — I said, and there it was

On May 4, 2015, we approved your Form I-821D, Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, Receipt Number LIN15xxxxxx74. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I can't believe this all happened in the same day! My EAD should arrive within a week, from what I've read from other renewal people.

Question:

I have a question though, sine I have been approved—I am legally allowed to work already, in other words, I could start working even before getting my EAD. Am I wrong? I'm planning on sending copies of my expired EAC (Employment Authorization Card) to HR while I wait for the new one and since I already have a SSN… I don't know, what you think guys? My soon-to-be supervisor is telling me HR might finish the paperwork process this week so I could start working by next Monday, hence my question.

You can start working legally since the EAD date starts with the date you are approved. Talk to HR, tell them that you checked and you were approved. If you can print the page to show them. If they can, have them wait until you can send them your updated EAD to finalize your paperwork, but I don't know if they'll let you start working until then.

It's all up to them whether they'll allow you to work. But you "legally" can.

Congratulations!

I also read this automatically as

"I got approve today and wondering if my EAD card will be 3 years"

I've read people's timelines and they usually get it in a matter of days, a week tops!
