Has anyone had their company following up when the work permit that was used for the I-9 form was near expiration date?

Did anyone not have their company following up to make sure that you have a valid work permit?

Yea if they have everify they do. They sent me an email to my work email saying that it was going to expire in 30 days and that they needed the new one.

Most do, depends on the level of organization and how well run their HR Dept is. Some companies have a person designated to doing just that, some companies use e verify.

Others are a mess and your case might slip through. This was the case with my previous company. Too bad it was one of those cases where the bridge was burned by leaving. Else I would have stayed there if I knew, but they never asked me for an updated ead. Even though I always had the new one, they never asked and I know they don't use e verify.

Is there a way to know if a company uses everify or not?

Walmart never followed up on mine 2 years ago. I was working with an expired EAD for 1 month and no one even noticed.

Some companies make it public. I do not know if this might be published online somewhere, I would think the e verify website would have something regarding all the companies who they serve.

Didn't a law pass a few years ago to make everify mandatory across all nation?

Nvm it is not mandatory.

The "Private Employer Verification Act" (S.B. 251) was signed into law on 31 March 2010. It requires all private employers who employ more than 15 or more employees as of 1 July 2010, to use a "status verification system" to verify the employment eligibility of new employees, though it does not mandate use of E-Verify.
