I had been caring for him for the last 2 years. I did my best to be a good son but he was just too ill. He would often tell me that he's holding on long enough to see me get my green card and not to be a slave anymore. I failed him in that way but he never wanted for anything while I was caring for him.

Thanks fellas. I was lucky that my dad had a green card and had earned medicare. I know a lot of other dreamers don't have that. Still in my situation it was really tough because things like getting power of attorney are harder for dreamers

Sorry for your loss. RIP.

I think power of attorney depends on state laws. I did it for my aunt and it was fairly easy. I just had to go to a notary and have 2 witnesses and they had to sign a few documents along with my aunt and that was it. I just keep the notarized documents as proof and they grant me power of attorney. Why was it so difficult in your state?

Well I never tried actually but anytime they wanted my name on something official, I would defer to my USC sibling because I was worried that with my shaky ID situation, I didn't want to open up a can of worms. Even with his handicap decal, I asked my sibling to go because I didn't want to get scrutinized. It's just subtle little things.
