This is what I found, it's from a newspaper so it may not be accurate.

Quote:
Sen. Dianne Feinstein has proposed a program designed to remedy a shortage of workers in California's produce fields. Here's how it would work:

-- Immigrant workers would have to prove they had worked on U.S. farms for at least 150 days or 863 hours or earned at least $17,000 over the past four years.

-- They would have to remain working in agriculture for the next five years.

-- The program would end after five years.
Does anyone have a link to the text of the amendment? Thomas is slow in being updated but isn't there a link to the congressional record we could look at somewhere?

I read today that they said Bush plans to veto this. Anyone hear anything otherwise?

I'm hearing there's a good chance that this will pass, since it will not give chances of giving green cards and citizenships.

And an important speculation for us here is that this amendment would further impact DREAM Act and allow us to stay in the US legally, first. That makes DREAM Act whole lot easier to pass the congress, don't you all think?

I can't even find the bill number for the Iraq supplemental. However, over at Alipac it looks like there is speculation that this Agjobs bill has a permanent residency aspect to it after 3 years of holding a work visa you've worked as a shepherd, goat herder or dairy herder. If anything officially comes up I'll edit my post.

yeh this is because DREAM Act is a very popular topic as of now with decent amt of support, and seeing this trend DREAM Act will follow the same path if it was to be re-introduced. Once any of us are legal to stay here, and when most of us have higher education, this gov't won't be able to stop us from getting sponsored and making our way to permanent residentce.
It is very difficult to pass this idea of legalizing status as we all have seen so far, just because people came to this country when they were young and lived here, illegally, regardless of whether they had to stay with their guardians. I'm sure there are going to be lots of oppressions saying exactly what I've just said but what DREAM Act needs right now is to ease down this whole idea of giving away permanent residence directly, explicitly.

the most important thing is that republicans said that is an anmesty bill, because it included a path of citizenship. what i think is , if durbin introduced the Dream Act that provide us to change F-1(international Visa)like 5-7 year visa and after 5-7year, then we have to get back in line and wait for the permant residency. that will be better and easy to pass.
