so a letter came for my brother with a check of $600. but he's not here he's in another state, so then my mom's friend told her that that it's 600 per family not per person, meaning his wife gets some money too. is this true? or is it just $600 each?also that's only for legal people huh? like it doesn't matter if you pay taxes you're still not gonna get one if ur um, undocumented? cuz like my dad actually has a valid ssn that he's been having for like 4 years. shouldn't he get money too?

Sorry, your question just angered me considering that this has been discussed many times already.

well to answer your question, only those with a SSN get that check.

Even if we pay taxes with the itin, were not eligible.

RahmanIV I'm sorry that you get angry for repeated questions. I myself have repeated questions and it is because I don't spend all my time surfing this forum so I miss things. So maybe a better idea would be for you to refer people to the Search option up top before posting threads. Just my opinion.

People should have some common sense instead of relying on others to tell them to use the search function. If cestlavie used the search tool and typed in just the word stimulus, she would have been directed to a few threads that covered the stimulus package topic.

Anyone with a valid SSN and has done their taxes and such is eligible for the refund. However, you need to make a certain amount to be eligible for one. Taken from the IRS site:

"Starting in May, the Treasury will begin sending economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million households. To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return. IRS will take care of the rest. Eligible people will receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17. Millions of retirees, disabled veterans and low-wage workers who usually are exempt from filing a tax return must do so this year in order to receive a stimulus payment."

There is a search function. It takes less than two seconds to use it. Referring people to use the search function is like reminding people to breathe.

u know u could take that 2 second and just "go back one page" and not type anything... Stop itching and scratching about people repeating questions guys, if u get annoyed just let it be, you don't have to post answers or even read the damn thing. Stop being so damn anal about what people post, you are not required to answer or even read their post...
