So I decided that if things don't change by next summer then I will go back to Mexico. I dont have many options after I finish my general ed at the community college. I can transfer but there is no dinero to do it. Mazatlan,Sinaloa does not seem that bad so maybe get a job and finish my studies there and maybe one day get a visa to Spain or even back here.

Anyways, if you wanted to go back can you just go back or do they catch you and keep you held. I just dont want to loose my stuff when I go back lol

I am actually not that upset about going back even if I know nothing at all. I feel that for the first time I am doing something for myself. It wont be easy but it is something that must be done. My mother is upset because she is saying that I am leaving her but I cant live with my family anymore or I will seriously go crazy. I ran out of money and she has agreed to pay my last two semesters at the JC. I'm only finishing it because I have invested my time and money into and Its something that cant be thrown away. Of course, I would love to finish and transfer to a four year but there is just no chance for me. Momma cant do it since she is the only on there. She needs to raise my 3 American born siblings who seriously dont know the meaning of being lucky.

So next summer

From Cali to Mazatlan :P

(Unless something magical happens)

Mona, I love that posting.

I totally feel you man. It's really cool that you can accept your ordeal and do something about it. I wish I could do the same.

Many people have thought about this. In most countries if you don't graduate from their system it's hard if not impossible to get into a college there. Even if you do get in, you will have to pay a non-resident fee just like you do here.

The money is what stops most people, you could get a job there but the jobs pay much lower than anything we get here and the odds are you will never be able to save up enough to go to school there.

You're in California, if I were you, I would stay but again it's your choice.
I don't know much about Mexico but I get the feeling it's similar to the country I come from.

ok look I'm going back to my home country soon. and no, no one will catch or keep you or whatever. that's hella stupid. all you have to do is get a passport if you don't already have one and buy a ticket and leave. it's not a big deal and don't be scared, don't believe the hype. I'm sorry but ppl in this country seem to believe that every other country out there if it's not in europe has to be a third world country, and that is not true. every country has its bad sides and good sides. I have visited mexico before it isn't bad. neither is my home country, at least not how I remember it.at all.like I have friends that have been like, "eww why you want to go back, isn't it like third world? like are the roads even paved" they're so stupid. that's the least they've actually said horrible things about it, and I've told them to shut the fuck up because they've never been there. and don't let anybody tell you that you're a quitter just because you decide to leave. just make sure that you can in fact, come back. for example if you will be petitioned by someone or if you will qualify for a visa. and everything should be fine. quite honestly I don't know how the employment and economic situation in mexico is, but if it isn't bad, you should b able to get a good job. since you speak english fluently and spanish?. and you know, just don't be afraid. if it feels like the right thing to do, then go ahead.

1.That's not true. not if it's your home country. and most likely if you are a good student you can get scholarships to study in other continents too.

2. Save up because dollars are worth more over there. with your english speaking skills and your college degree you'll get a good job, it'll pay you enough to live, and you work your way up from there. you can totally save up for college there. okay, I don't know about mexico, right? but I'm going to costa rica, and costa rica is considered second world, just like mexico, so I'm guessing we might be alittle bit similar in some things. in costa rica, the economy has been good and stable for the last years. education is considered to be really good compared to other countries and affordable and the social services are good too. SO do your research. Research EVERYTHING about Mexico. you might be surprised.
I spent more than a year researching and asking relatives about everything I needed to know to move there...and I found out it's actually the best choice for me, and so I'm moving next month.

I would guess you would fly there, but it would be hard to bring all your stuff. You would probably get caught if you try to recross the border.

The only real bad thing is the 10 yr ban from the US. Also it would be hard to immigrate to other countries since you have broken immigration laws in the US and it would be hard to get a visa there so i doubt it would be easy to study abroad.

I would advise you to stay. Not about anything bad against Mexico, just it would be hard to leave then have something passed right after you leave.

C'est la vie makes a good point. The country I come from is notorious for being very competitive in selecting undergrads for their colleges as most are state run. Carefully look into Mexico's system and call and find a job and make sure you're accepted before you leave and that you'll be able to pay tuition and living expenses.

However unlike C'est la vie you are over 18. You will not be allowed to return for at least 10 years. Even after that 10 years no temporary visas such as work or visitors visas will be given to you. Unless your mom is able to become a citizen or LPR you will not see your mom for at least (most likely more) 10 years.

I don't think this is true. From some research I've done, other countries don't really care if you've broken laws in the US. Also how would they even know about it, unless you volunteered the information.

The ten year ban is indeed a real bummer. I would go back and join the Army to avoid becoming a national fugitive of S. Korea, but I d not dare step foot outside the US in fear of not being able t see my friends and family for 10 years. Who knows what can happen. I stay. DREAM act passes or I get married. Simple as that.
