Well, for some, it's absolutely necessary to travel.

I'm having the same dillemma, since I'll be going to UCLA, and my home is in SF. I think I'll need check out some of those lesser-known charter buses.

I'm planning to travel from NYC to Seattle. Would it still be a problem using Greyhound if I go to Denver first and then from Denver to Seattle? That way it would be as far from either border as possible, although Seattle would be really close to Canada. Would I avoid having to deal with Customs?

I have an unexpired foreign passport (my visa stamp is in my old one) and school ID.

Seattle is not close to the border, and you won't have any problems with border patrol.

FYI, unlike the southern states, the northern borders are fairly laid back, at least in the NW.

I live in Seattle.
Don't worry, Seattle is a sanctuary city. We hate those USCIS pigs lol.

Not sure about the NW specifically, but traveling in northern NY is not safe right now, period. So that statement doesn't necessarily hold true.

We do not have freedom of movement. If you go outside a sanctuary city, you are risking getting stopped by an ICE agent. Recent news tell us that in New York state that risk is very high. I'm guessing the ICE had to respond to the millions of Canadians illegally crossing the border.

How far will they push us into a corner before we push back? Our fear is herding us into the abyss. We can't fly, drive, take the bus or go on a train. Soon the ICE will start screening public transportation and people riding bicycles, then we'll have to live within walking distance of all necesities. The ICE is herding us like cattle.

So go where you have to go, but, please, be smart about it.

I live in Southern California and I would like to take the Amtrak to a few places or just be able to move around.

Can anyone verify that they just applied, received, and used the ISIC card safely?
I don't want to spend money on a card that's not going to help me.

i used the ISIC card, mostly for getting the discount as well as having it show my age to go places. Its a good ID i never had problems. I think ICE stopping you is really a game of chance, its whether you want to take those chances, which should be pretty good to begin with. good luck.
