Hey guys, can anyone who currently has Metro PCS tell me what they end up paying on a monthly basis.

Are their plans really the flat, no contract rates that they advertise (i.e.: $35, 40, etc.), or are they just like any other carrier that tacts on extra charges and a multitude of taxes.

I'm currently looking into switching from my current carrier, Verizon Wireless, once my contract with them is up. For two lines, my mom's phone and mine, it costs $106.00/month. Kinda burdensome, especially now.

Anyhow, thanks in advance.

Sorry this is waay off-topic.

I had Metro for awhile and yeah, they have crazy amounts of taxes on their services. I think I would end up spending around ~$54 a month on my one line (I believe I had the $40 plan).

Sorry, I can imagine this isn't good news. =/

i called Metro PC about a week ago and asked about their plans and phones.
You need to use THEIR phones, and I believe the cheapest one was about 100 dollars.
And they had a somewhat limited coverage (in my area), it wouldn't work in an area where my mom works.

I use T-Mobile pre paid, and pay about 50 dollars every other month. If I could get a plan, i would probably do T-mobile as well.

Yeah, I realized I'd have to buy a brand new phone. I might just invest in some sorta awesome, long-range walkie-talkie.

::krrsch, over and out::
HA, I could get used to saying that.

yea i was also wondering about metro. At&t is too expensive. My family had to pay 194.00 for 3 lines only. Not to mention the text messages are .20 cents now!

the only problem with those so called prepaid "unlimited monthly plans" (boost, cricket, metro pcs) is that they say, unlimited txt, talk, etc. for like what 40$ a month. what they don't usually say is, that you have to be in your specified calling region. i.e. if you are in orange county, you're unlimited talk n text, will only be there, if you go down to san diego or up to LA, then you will be charged a roaming fee. same goes for me here in LV. once i go down to LA or SF, i get charged a roaming fee, something like 0.79$ a minute. which i think is kind of dumb. now if you plan to stay in you're own calling region than this is the best for you. if not, and you plan to travel at least 3-4 times a year. this might not be the way to go. I suggest you get the t-mobile flex play, b/c its all the perks of a contract plan, (unlmited, nights n wknds, nationwide calling from anywhere, certain amt. of minutes based on which plan u get.), w/o actually having a contract, plus no deposit or credit check. its the same for the at&t pick your plan, (go phone) as well. plans start at 40$ a month plus tax about 44$.

Thanks for the advice Ed. I'll definitely look into the flex pay and go phone plans.

That is completely nutters, assuming you have tmobile coverage why don't you just go with them? Their family plans with two lines start at $60 a month. If you want texting or data, the total is of course is going to be more, but even then, you're getting a whole lot more bang for your buck.
