I got an inspiron 1520, i dont know if your battery sucks as much as mine, but have you ever had to replace it? How much did it cost?

I know Dell is notorious for having faulty batteries, but mine got damaged because of a black out, it wont charge more than 60% now. ( Has anyone experienced this before?)

Never had a battery problem, but on my other Dell I had to change the adapter a few times.

Oh and obviously ebay would probably be a good place to buy a new one, unless you want to pay the arm and leg to get it from dell.

I had to change my adapter once since it stopped working... It worked for 2 years before I had to change it. Other than that, battery has been fine. I have an Inspiron 600m.Go here.

It costs $135 from Dell.com.

In the event of a blackout, the laptop will stay on as long as the battery is charged. In a power surge or a spike, the laptop will most likely be damaged. So I'm not even sure that your battery is the problem at this point. Anyhow, should you decide to purchase a new battery, I strongly agree with the ebay suggestion. A new one can be had for $50- $70.

Don't get me started on Dell.

I have a dell pc which works great for a 5 year old computer, but my problems with Dell stemmed from their speakers.

When I originally purchased my computer, I bought a 5.1 altec lansing surround sound system from dell.

Had beautiful sound for about 1 year. It then conked out completely.
Graciously, I was still covered by warranty and so I was sent a replacement version (dell mms 5650) which was actually an upgrade (more watts).

Anyway, that had even greater sound quality, and ran well for several years until a few months ago.

I started having tons of issues that I soon found out were experienced by several other people.

Bottom line - I had to unscrew and literally use a dremel tool to cut apart my center speaker console to attempt to fix the problem myself. And alas, I got no where.

They still work, but are faulty, and dell will not acknowledge that they sold a faulty product to numerous customers.

Quite Frustrating and, thus I empathize with anyone else's rancor with Dell products.

Granted, Dell computers are still quite good, but no one can deny that many of their ancillary products are at times faulty. Not to mention their Indian customer service is downright horrid.

Anyway, Ayame,
As for your laptop issue, getting a new battery is not too bad of an idea, and not the worst thing that can happen.
Hopefully you are still under warranty, in which case you should easily get a replacement for free.

If not, I am sure there are reasonably priced batteries out there on the web.

Also, you might want to search the web for other people who have had similar issues. I'm sure there are others.

Thanks everybody for your answers. I will buy a new battery just in case, i dont know if its still covered under the warranty, i bought it on jan of this year. I'll see.

I did look for similar issues on google, yahoo answers, etc. but nothing.

Weird thing is, today when i turned it on, it was charged 100% again. I dont get what wrong with my computer...lol...its good again. For now at least.
