My story is the story that too many people know too well.

i was born in honduras in 1989 i was 18 months when my mother chased after that so elusive american dream, when i was two my father decided to join my mother in the united states. at this point my grandparents took care of me, it wouldnt be until i was 10 that i would join my parents.
january of 1999. my parents had two more kids in the mean time, i have a youger brother and a younger sister.

ive been attending school in the us for ten years recently finished high school with the intention of joining the military. i feel as if i belong here my friends family everything i know is here. I have the TPS (temporary protected status) wich is basically a work permit for 18 months at a time.

in a way im better off that way. i am aware of that. but it also affects my whole life,

i did come into this country illegally. did i have a choice "yes"
did i know any better "no"
do i fear going back to my country "yes"
\now due to my temporary status. its very difficult not to get fired when its time to renew my Permit (has happend to me at a previous job).
my drivers license is restricted. i cannot join the military. i have to pay out of state tuition even though ive lived in the state of virginia for 5 years.

i am not a criminal. im just another person who doesnt want to be labeled simply as an illegal immigrant. i just want to be part of what ive come to know as the land of opportunity and just waiting on mine.

due to where i was born i have all these limitations and yet i cant help to think how lucky my siblings are to have been born here and not have to deal with any of this bs.

Welcome! Didn't USCIS start giving out 2 year work permits now instead of one year? There was an article on DAP about that a month ago. It was an ethnic media source so I don't know how reliable it is.

Why do you have a picture of the Geezer as your Avatar?
