Moonpie, thank you so much I really appreciate it I didn't expect that ! I just feel it is my duty to give back any way i can eventhough I'm not really out of the woods myself until this waiver goes through (if it does). I finally understand happiness now which I thought I never would cus of that situation so I just want to make sure everyone knows that they can be truly happy one day too, it will not be like this forever...a whole new life can wait ahead along with possibilities if not now in the future. . I am planning to be an immigration attorney by the way (the only good thing that came outta this situation was my endless knowledge about immigration) lol..

By the way, what is your situation like Moonpie? Where were you born?

Here's some good news for potential Canadian dreamers.
Quote:
Canada to Offer Permanent-Resident Status to Eligible Foreign Students

Canada is introducing a fast-track system to let foreign students and graduates with Canadian work experience become permanent residents, according to an announcement this week by the minister of citizenship and immigration.

Until now, students and graduates had to leave Canada to apply for such status, which leads to citizenship in a few years. Currently, foreign students are permitted to work off campus, and earlier this year the government allowed graduates to stay and work for three years.

The new fast-track policy will apply only to those who have completed two years of academic study in Canada, have worked in professional, skilled, or managerial jobs, and have good English- or French-language skills.

Canada decided to revamp its policy to stay competitive with Britain and Australia, according to a report in The Globe and Mail, a newspaper. The initial quota for the applicants is from 12,000 to 18,000 per year. It will be increased to 25,000 applicants per year in the future. —Karen Birchard

I love Lucy:
You're welcome!

To answer your question, I was born in Toronto.
I have both a Canadian and British passport.
I've lived & worked all over the world.
I'm married to a USC and have a green card.
Right now we're living in CA but will be moving soon (overseas!)

Enjoy London! Don't forget to take some time to travel and see the country.

Yep, good info, Ianus!

Australia and NZ are pretty neat options as well. Australia used to have a program that if you were under 30, you could live and work in Australia on a visa for a year to get to know the country.

They are pretty aggressive about wanting to encourage immigrants to apply, esp those who are educated (hmmm! would that apply to anyone here??)
and speak English. The website opens up with: "Australia has a great need for skilled immigrants".

Here's a recruiting website for prospective nurse immigrants:

I had a couple of good ones for Canada as well -- the govt of BC has committed funding at one of the colleges for foreign trained nurses to pass the nursing licensing exam.

Hello Everyone!

I don't post as often as everybody does here, but I do read your posts often and as always they are very encouraging. Thanks for all the information you've provided ILoveLucy, it's been quite helpful! I'm pursuing my masters in the US right now and will more than likely will seek elsewhere (particulary Canada) for an opportunity. I will hopefully be done with my masters next year, so then we'll see. In the meantime I'm doing my own research on what can be done about Canada... I will try to share as much info as possible through the post as I receive it! I have been able to obtain some work experience on my field, the issue will be now on claiming it for the skilled worker program... Thanks and we'll keep dreaming... (even if it's somewhere else!)

Lawyers who takes a resonable money is the good lawyer. Layers with free consultations are very few in number but their response will not sound good since he is doing for free. Consulting a lawyer who is experinced in that field for a long time is the best choice.
