My best friend Rogelio and I just finished highschool and I am going off to college, but he is not able to go because he was brought here illegally as a child. I am trying to help him attain citizenship or at least a greencard, but everything requires him to return to mexico, where he has no family or friends, and then wait an excessive period of time before he can even return. I am trying very hard to help him and he is my best friend so anything I can possibly do to help him, I will. I just need help, niether me nor him can afford half of the forms even if he was to return to mexico to gain his citizenship. We are running out of ideas and can't seem to find a way around the strict immigration policies.

Can anyone please help?

There is no way for him to get a green card unless one of his parents or siblings are citizens or permanent residents. If he leaves the country, he will be subject to a ban and cannot return for 10 years.

We are in the exact same situation as him and there is nothing you can legally do to help him. The best you can do is support the DREAM Act and help us fight for its passage.

The DREAM Act is the only way that Rogelio will be able to get legal status.

Have him wait for Dream to pass. That's the only thing he can do. I'd encourage him to try to get a job and start working though...

We both live in south carolina, and the illegal immigration issue is way overenforced, he would have to leave state to go to college and that is something we've been looking at, but even with his job, he helps support his family members so going out of state isn't really a good choice, but still a possibility. His only relatives that are legal are his brothers, and they are 12 and 16, and from what immigration has told me, they can't help unless they are 21 or older.
Thanks though...
