Hi. I'm a supporter of DREAM and an American citizen. I'm a liberal Republican. (why? Because it's the party that needs taming from its excesses at the moment.) Anyhow, the GOP has had in the past a Nelson Rockefeller wing, and Michael Bloomberg ran on the Republican ticket to make the mayorship of New York City, a liberal bastion if ever there was one.

Yes, I'm voting for Obama, on the issues. (McCain isn't really a liberal. He's one of the most liberal Republicans at the national level and he's a maverick, but he votes pretty conservatively much of the time when he's trying to kiss up to the GOP "base".)

As for DREAM, I feel that anyone who was born abroad, who grew up in America and is a good person, should be considered a "natural American", along with those of us native to this country. (Isaac Asimov was an example. He came from Russia as a little kid, yet he practically always considered New York City "home".) When I read that kids who were smuggled by others into this country had no real way of gaining legality, I felt that was unfair to those people and that led me to this site.

I'm really glad to see others understanding the injustice of our situation, thank you for supporting our cause.

Thank you for the support. I'm also a US citizen supporter of DREAM, through my undocumented girlfriend of quite a while now. Her situation and what it meant for us, and also as a moral/justice issue, led me to search for possible ways to fix her unearned status, which led me to DAP.

At Rutgers there are places where one can pick up all sorts of student publications, and I'm in the habit of picking them up - including Asian and black and Latino-oriented stuff, even though I'm neither Asian nor black nor Latino. It was in the Asian paper "Native Tongue" that I read about the DREAM Act, and from there it was a simple matter of Googling to find your group. So that's how I found out.
