So NYU accepted me and all registered tuition paid for etc. and has me as an International student and are telling me to fill out their AFCOE etc etc to finalize becoming an International student. In the e-mail they sent, they told me to tell them that if I'm not an F-1 student to tell them if I'm either a citizen, permanent resident, or on another visa. What I'm wondering is, would it be alright to tell them that I'm out of status? Don't really have another option o.O but I'm just wondering if there's anything I should be aware of before I tell them that.

Definitely tell them one way or another, it will make your life easier down the road.

Its a good idea to research somebody at the university that can help you, someone with enough authority, dean of admissions or student affairs or something like that, and appropriate background if possible (use the internet to get some clues). Once you find someone appropriate, make an appointment, and go see that person. Tell her about your situation and ask for advice.

Oh, congratulations by the way! =)

Pretty good school. By the way, there are plenty of consulates in the city... not sure if that information helps, but - let's face it - being a major city is good for some things, and consulates are one of them. Especially with the UN being in town.

I sent an e-mail to them about what was up and they sent me an e-mail back saying that they changed the status and that was that. Now all I gotta do is ask someone somewhere to know what that actually means since I was restricted as an "international student" and I dont want to find out that I'm even more restricted. If anyone else is/planning on going to Steinhardt NYU look me up, I can probably give a few heads up esp. if you're going into applied psychology.

Your pretty lucky if you have everything covered. When i got accepted last year, i could not attend because of the price. Even with scholarships my tuition was still nearly 25k per year, as well as other decent schools.

But make sure you do well, i was counted as international too, and if i had gone for 4 years (which i could have) that would leave me with nothing for graduate / professional school, which is definatley something i cannot sacrifice.

I'm at NYU as an International too! Congratulations on having everything covered, I unfortunately did not.
