I am going to travel from Ny to Seattle next week. I am lookin at the rules on their page, but has anyone actually travelled Amtrak, if I buy my ticket online.. do they check for ID's a lot? ( I am totally white girl, so I won't attract the cliche suspicions) I have a work ID and a ss card, in case they need to randomly check id, which it says on the site they do random checks while ur travelling.. are they strict? Thanks!

I wouldn't advise you to take the Amtrak from NY to Seattle, as it goes near the border and the possibility of being caught is higher. Honestly, I think even flying is safer.

We all come in different colors, just so you know.

With that said, I agree with daffoils.

Hi,I've done a lot of research on this subject and that route is not safe!. As daffodils said the possibility of being caught is high. Ice randomly asks EVERYONE about their nationality.

I believe flying is safer.

Good Luck.

Found it!

Sweet jesus, from that video: "Anybody that is a foreign national has to be in possession of immigration documents proving that they're legal in the united states."

So in other words you need to have your papers on you 24/7 otherwise if you get stopped in the street you'll be arrested. What does this remind you off...

i traveled amtrak from san francisco to chico, ca and i was fine. i just showed my school id and there was no problem. the lady at the counter didn't ask whether or not i had a CA id, she just accepted my school id. but i dont know about the ny to seattle trip. you can try flying as long as you have a passport to show as id. i've flown to seattle from san francisco and there was also no problem, the airport staff were actually very nice.
