Immigration advocates said the bills stave off a planned March 15 deportation. And it gives them more time to push for passage of the Dream Act, a bill that would offer students who grew up in the United States a path to legal residency.
I know there was a previous article posted related to this one, but here is another valid mention of DREAM.

Bless Senator Chris Dodd's heart.
So Dodd gives the Dream Act within 18 months to pass.

no not really, the reason he gave them 18 months is b/c that's when the senate seats are up for re-election... in order for a senator to keep pushing for a private bill, he has to be present in office...

let me remind every1, that the more this takes, the more families are split and young students are returned back... 18 months may be o.k for sum to wait, but for others is wayyy too long. think about it

UPDATE!!!
"Immigration advocates said the bills prevent a planned March 15 deportation. And the legislative proposals allow the brothers to await the possible passage of the Dream Act, a bill that would offer students who grew up in the United States a path to legal residency."
