Thanks for the update Juan, I have been since a few months before dream got voted on last time, well Durbin will know what path for passage to pursue. DAPer's once again we need speak up, be it dream attached to CIR of as a stand alone.

Well, most likely under CIR there will be certain requirements, such as a fee that we won't have to pay if DREAM passes.

I don't think so...last CIR there was that whole 'z-visa' thing first before any permanent status.

Actually the specifics of CIR this time around haven't been released. But previous versions had people leaving the county and coming back through a guest worker program. I don't think they'll allow for automatic permanent residency because the opposition will see this as pure amnesty.

For those who don't know me I'm Juan Gomez, and I've been a member for almost two years. For those who do know me sorry for the long hiatus, but its time to get things rolling again and I know i can depend on you guys.

First of all, I'm at Georgetown now which means I have the capitol at my disposal. My lawyers and I have been in contact with Durbin and Senator Reid. Today I met with Senator Reid's staff and we had a strategy meeting concerning the DREAM Act.

It was supposed to be reintroduced tomorrow, but events like the AIG have postponed it until Thursday. They were confident that it would be introduced this week though. It will be introduced as a stand alone, but unfortunately they told me that what the Senators are really pushing for is CIR. They are using DREAM as a catalyst for further immigration reform. They want it to encourage the house to revisit CIR over the summer and then hopefully a bill will pass by early fall. The month I got was September.

I know this may be a bit of a blow, but experience has shown us that it was not going to be that easy. They told me that the time to organize is now. Starting with thanking Senator Durbin for introducing the bill. Then concentrated efforts aimed at specific Senators we could sway (they'll tell me which Senators are on the fence). They also thought demonstrations were great if we spaced them out right in the coming months.

One last thing, I'll be meeting Harry Reid soon and they thought it would be a good idea to mention some DREAM students from Nevada. So if anyone here is from Nevada and doesn't mind sending me a short story about their struggles as DREAM students I would appreciate it.

I'll do my best to utilize resources here on the hill.
My only problem is some senators like Orrin Hatch will vote against the dream act once it's attached to CIR. So i guess we have to convince them to support CIR when we contact them.

welcome back juan, i have read about you its good to see you back. i would like to say things have come to a point where we just need a final touch as juan mentioned, we should start calling and thanking for all the senators support and help . Another thing i would like to see DA as a separate bill than with CIR too, but on the other side i appreciate what ever helps us acheiving our dreams and moving forward.

Wow, I also never knew you were a member of DAP...well, i'm glad that you're allowed to stay a little bit longer and also glad for the Dream Act being reintroduced this week. It's not much, but it's something. Baby steps, baby steps. Remember people. And what are the specifics of the CIR? Sorry, I don't follow the news that much.

I get the feeling there is some strategizing going on that we dont know about because CIR just does not seem realistic to me in this political climate. So if Sen. Durbin is saying something about attaching it to the CIR, I'm hoping its because he knows something we dont. Man, our lives are hanging on the passage and signing of the DREAM!!! I dont want to get concerned so I'm going to go have some chocolate chip cookies . That always calms me down......
