Hey...guys..

I was reading about the DREAM on the wikipedia.org website. And it says

According to the 2009 version of the bill[7], DREAM Act beneficiaries must have:

1.Proof of having arrived in the United States before age 16.[8]

2/Proof of residence in the United States for a least five (5) consecutive years since their date of arrival, compliance with Selective Service[9].

3.Must be between the ages of 12 and 35 at time of bill enactment.

4.Having graduated from an American high school, or obtained a GED.

5."Good moral character"

For the 2nd one of the five requirements above, does ''compliance with selective service'' make sense to you? Because we must a have SSN to register for selective service in the US.

However, we are undocumented, which means many of us don't have a SSN. Then how can we register for selective service and qualify for the DREAM ACT?

I dont understand this..

My goodness, this has been discussed to death already.

Every male over the age of 18 must register with the selective service, documented or undocumented.

We have to sign up using the actual paper form -- leave the SSN field blank.
They still accept it and mail you your card a few weeks later and everything is set. We cannot sign-up online because of an error on the site if we leave the SSN field blank. Do not put all zeros.

You have your info wrong. In order to register for Selective Services you DO NOT need to have a SS#. I don't think that you'll be able to register online, but what I did was to go to the postal office and mailed the form in ( the form itself was on the postal office). Just leave the SS# blank. I got my verification about 2 months later. Be sure to register before the age of 26, though.

I came to the US when I was 15.
I am now 24 and I haven't registered because I had no idea about selective service system at all. SH*T !!

If I register now, is it going to cause any kind of problems?

^You have to register with SS before you turn 26, so you are still ok
