Hello,
My name is Miguel i am 21 years old, I live in MI and have been waiting for the dream act for a while now. It is my only hope for having a better future and encouragement to continue my education. Unfortunately i had a run in with local police and have endangered my future with this charge. I am also new to this site and have a question. As i stated earlier i just had a run in with the law and it resulted in me getting a "use of marijuana" misdemeanor charge. how will this affect my dream act application? i was not smoking nor was i high when i was with the cops, and it was not my marijuana, although it was in my car on my buddies side and some shake was on his leg. But i have smoked before though.

Please help i have never been involved with the law and have no Idea what to do? should i plead guilty/not guilty? It would be my first stain on my record but would like to know how it will affect me in the future for the Dream act. I am currently in school, work fulltime but at a relatives business for little pay of course but under the table pay. I never have been in any trouble prior to this (school, home, police, etc...). How would this affect my "Good Moral Character" on the application? In my state this is a misdemeanor ticket that carries a fine of 100 dollars and possible community service. But regardless it is a misdemeanor drug charge, but not a possesion charge which is higher than this. Thank you for any information on this.

Thank you

I don't know much about that, but I'd bet some Americans would have a problem with that, yeah.
Truth be told, most people here don't WANT us to get legalized, and my bet would go to that they're going to find anything to give them an excuse to not legalize you.

But of course I could be wrong.

I honestly don't know what advice I could give you, I'm sorry I'm not much help
I hope someone else here knows what they're talking about and are able to help you.

Best wishes to you and your case, and oh, STOP SMOKING POT!!!
It was not a very wise decision to get involved with people who do drugs, much less do them yourself, specially in your situation!!
Try to have some more love for yourself, man. Your future is more important than getting high here and there to drown your pain in.
You're stronger than that.

Actually, that's not true. America is 40-60 towards gay marriage, as in 40% of the country is for it. However, America is 60-40 towards legalizing us. Though not by a large margin, but roughly 2/3 of the country is cheering for us.
