You don't get it. The Dream Act as it is already written, will not allow for Financial Aid. That fool on CNN was saying that it provides Financial Aid when it does not.

Great job mathias, i just wish they had brought someone like durbin to argue against that anti-immigrant guy. There was no need for him to go on about immigrants hundred years ago blah blah blah.

Believe me i've read the dream act text more than i'd care to admit...i kno conditional residency doesnt give u any financial aid..but section 11 of the dream act states that u can recieve financial aid once u become a permanant resident...thats the part FAIR keeps going after and making it seem like we get financial aid right away...but section 11 to me seems redundant since as a resident you get financial aid anywayz...does it have to be explicitly stated in the dream act?? since FAIR loves to twist it around for their talkin points

So he is arguing that after the 6 years of conditional residence with atleast 2 years of college or service in the armed forces we could receive financial aid because we are now citizens?

No.. he is arguing that we get financial aid right away even as conditional residents but infact section 11 states we only get financial aid as PERMANENT RESIDENTS(conditional + 6yrs + 2 yr service or 4 yr college)..but FAIR takes the section out of context to gain more support..so my point is y not just take that section out since all permanent residents can apply for financial aid anyways do we really need it in there for FAIR to go after and distort

Even if that section is taken out I think FAIR will still have their same arguments because down the road financial aid will be available. And even if we change the DREAM Act to fight what the opposition is saying it won't gain us much new support since people will still be saying the basic ignorant arguments like "Its amnesty" "Its going to allow millions of other people to be able to gain citizenship" blah blah blah

Let me also jump in to the nerdy Computer Science madness....CompSciDreamer, I hope you enclose your if-else condition in an infinite loop
while(true){
....
}
cuz if we do fail this time, we got to iterate again...keep incrementing the WorkHard counter till it passes...then you can break when it passes

Matias,

You made me extremely proud today. I just wish they'd given you a longer segment, because it seemed like there was much more you wanted to say, but couldn't due to the time constraints. Do you know if CNN will have you back for another interview? Or would be willing to interview any other DREAMies?

Kudos to the host for getting snarky with the FAIR guy. I loved it.

We need to keep the media blitz going as Mathias did by educating people of what this law does. Thats the only way we can dispell all the false notions out there (for ex. the FIAR guy said we get financial aid). I wonder if we could somehow provoke the Sean Hannitys and Loud Dobbs of this world to interview some of us and ask us about our story then tell us what they think we ought to do. I know that idea is probably far fetched but I've been thinking about it for little while now. Anyways, good job again Mathias.....

I think they should have let a DREAMie have a go at that fool from FAIR. We know what their arguments are going to be even before they make them since it's the same lame response as always.

The IRA guy was absolutely a mess. He only said one thing that was potentially beneficial: "many of them are honors students".
