Yes, he can have someone with him. Do not worry, the first time is scary. The place is going to be packed with people and some of them are going to be arrest on the spot for doing worst things than driving without a DL. After spending all day in that seventh circle of hell, your dad is going to feel less than a criminal. That is a reality.
No, my dad has absolutely no criminal record whatsoever.
My dad is a very nice person. I don't think he's ever done anything bad in his life... unless if it was before I was born. (but he used to be in the military back in our country)

I don't think we have the money to pay for a lawyer, though...
Will it be ok if he doesn't take a lawyer with him?
He wasn't speeding or anything. He got stopped along with every single car that was going down that road cuz the cops were checking everyone.

Find a young lawyer who does Probono (free) cases for people who need it. Call around and you'll find some. If you go in without a lawyer, it's a suicide mission. Call around 70 times a day if you have to okay? Do not go in there without a lawyer. Search for a lawyer like your life depends on it.

Hey, this happened to my dad, too.

He had a lawyer (who was trying to get him legalized but screwed him), but I don't know how much help that was anyway.
But he got a court date. I was soo worried, as I'm sure you are.
He went to court and I didn't go with him, but I knew what time it was, so my brother and I walked to the court house and surprised him. I was scared that he would go to jail or get deported, so I wanted to see him.
The judge just called him up there, in front of everyone else there for court, and he just told him to go pay a fine. I don't remember how much he paid, but who cares? =)

I live 2 hrs south of Orlando (which by the way, is so damn confusing to get around because of the million different roads! lol), so maybe it will be the same for your dad? I hope so.

Msg me if you have any questions. I'll ask my dad about it.

He has an expired Driver's License (and apparently tag as well), so they gave him a ticket (I think 500 dollars) and he's gonna have to attend court, apparently.

I don't know much about this all, cuz in all honesty, I was very scared to ask him what really happened.

But I'm so worried, DAP.
What's gonna happen in court?
Is there a chance he'll go deported?
If he does, I have absolutely no money and nowhere to stay...

Can anyone tell me more info about this?
My dad is also undocumented.
He went to court for driving issue too, for a couple times
i don't know where you live, but certainly in NYC, the court doesn't even look at your status
these cases - you can just pay off that $500, or hire a law office firm to help you to try to withdraw the ticket

if you are not certain about what happen around your town / city / state
just pay the money
