Sorry for misspelling the title of this message....

This bill is the single most important piece of legislation in my mind. I would love to work overtime in helping it pass. I want to know as much about it as possible and I want to be able to get second by second updates on any progress that is made. I LOVE this website and how it is set up! I'm going to spend quite a bit of time reading all the information that is available on here but until then I want to know what I can do on my university campus. This bill is so imporant to me. I think that it allows for the United States of America to allow for hard working and educated people to stay here so that this country continues to be a leader in innovation and talent.

I am so excited to work and make it happen because I have a fair understanding of how Congress functions and...with Sen. Spector switching sides and Al Franken having a good chance of taking Minnesota the Senate will have a Filibuster-proof 60-vote majority. With a majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives and a Democratic President this year is going to be the best shot that we have. It is not just because of the Democratic Party and what Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Harry Reid can do but the fact that the majority of the population voted for CHANGE in the recent election and President Obama is going to play an integral part in this process. If there was ever a time to pass this bill it is now because the right people are in office...the kind of people that want to give opportunities to kind students with potential so that those students can develop a future here and use their education to contribute to the greater good of this country's economic well-being.

I know that was a long comment but I feel like I could write a book on all the reasons why the DREAM ACT is so important and should be rushed through Congress and signed by the President. I hope everyone on this website is as enthusiastic as I am.

Best wishes to all!

Hey, thanks for wanting to get involved! There are many things you can do to help pass the DREAM Act.

You can sign the DREAM Act 2009 petition. You can also download the petition to collect signatures around your school and neighborhood.

Every Friday, Change.org Immigration Blog features a story about a DREAM Act student. You can write one and e-mail it to [email protected] along with a picture you want to use (it doesn't have to be a picture of you). On the left-hand side of the blog, under "guest bloggers," you can read stories about fellow Dreamies.

You can become a regional representative for the DREAM Act and DreamACTivist.org

Your school's student government can also pass a resolution in support of the DREAM Act. Many schools, such as the University of Michigan, Temple University, University of Florida, have passed similar resolutions.

And probably one of the most important things to do, meet with your senators and representative and urge them to support and co-sponsor the DREAM Act. PM me if you have any questions on how to do this. And don't be intimidated, Senators' aides are people just like you and me.

Thanks again and welcome!
