Question about the border bridge crossings...

So I was wondering if anyone knew what the cameras at the border bridge crossings are used for?? They have like 5 of them by the car what are they for exactly? Do they have like facial recognition?? If anyone can answer this for I would really appreciate it thank you!

They are used to take pictures of the license plates, then it goes into a database.

plates, probably faces too, I think some are at face level? There are some other things by the tires, but I think these are position sensors.
