Most of us were accepted by many colleges and had to "pass" (more like learn to let go). which school did you want to go but couldn't because of your status?
Mine is Roger Williams University (RI) I was accepted by 6 schools in the New England area, but choose RWU. Then i realized (with my parents help, lol!) that I couldn't afford to go w/o loans & financial aid that i didn't qualify for.
arrrggg!!!!! (still sore from the pain)

I had to give up applying to UCLA since they wouldn't give any aid as well as all UCs, so I went for private universities.
I was accepted at my first choice USC, then Occidental College, La Verne (CA), Trinity College (CT), as well as other state colleges.
I had a 4.0 gpa and plenty of extra-curricular activities... I can't dwell on the past anymore, but the DREAM Act will still better my future life.
I do have a bachelor's and masters degree at this point... but I was not allowed to be "all I could be"... nor have the great college life that most deserving high school grads have.

I just applied to UT and no where else. When I applied it was a pre-DREAM and pre-In-State tuition at Texas era so I thought it was hopeless to apply to different fancy places. I know people with my credentials at my HS got into Harvard/Princeton but I believe God wanted me to be a Longhorn and had that not happened I'd just gone back to Mexico. I think it has been of mutual benefit for me to have been able to attend and graduate from UT for myself and the State.

P.S. A&M sucks!

Giving up the school of my dreams for a community college/party school was not as hard.

The real wake-up call was after graduating. A lawyer wanted to hire me to do transcripts for depositions. Since I was going to both translate and documented the interviews, I could easily fetch 100K per year.

Then one of my professors actually wanted to recommend me to a friend as a log girl for a small film studio in LA. It was an actual entry level job, in an industry where your first jobs are always lame and free.

They say that in America, if you give 100% you will achieve your goals. So far, I got the diploma but my dreams are so far, it is like looking at a thunder storm where your see the lightning but not hear the sound of it. I wonder if I ever will.

Really, guys, regret is one of the worst feelings you can have. It leaves you stuck in the past. Just look to the future and work for immigration reform and/or Dream Act this year (I sound like Dr. Phil don't I )

I actually realized that I didn't have a chance at (a good) college when I was about 16 and I gave up trying all together.

I regret it and I don't regret it. During the time when everyone was out studying for SATs and whatnot I was racking up life experiences. (LOL)

I had to give out Clown College. I don't know if I will ever recover from that.

I feel like this is such a depressing and mopey thread but I understand. I was aiming for Carroll College in Montana, which is a Catholic college, and in Montana which I think is a beautiful state. Anyway, I can't complain, I go to a pretty good school that was kind enough to give me a full-ride, but I just had to stay in Utah. I keep reminding myself, be grateful you're in school at all! We're all lucky to still be here
