If it does not pass this year then there is always next year. Eventually it will pass. It is possible that Dream Act does not pass but CIR passes.

Also, Canada is an option with the Federal Workers Skills program. Some of you may even qualify this to get Parmanent Residence in Canada.

Well I dont think I have enought patience to wait and see if the DA goes through. This would not be the first disappointment and I honestly lost faith somewhere along the 20 yrs I have been here. I have had marriage proposals but I was always naive enough to think that I didnt wanna marry someone just so I can fix my status. I still dont think I could. I can't see myself owing that much to someone...

If DA doesn't pass, my husband (whom Im already married to) will file for me. But if I wasn't married, I'd be going back to Mexico. I've come to terms with leaving the US if I have to.
If it doesn't pass, my 16 year old brother will go back to Mexico summer 2010, after he graduates from HS.

Lets hope it passes.

first, go sit in the corner and cry like a little baby

plan A - go back to korea as a worthless college dropout (3 years of university dont count for jack shit without an actual diploma), join the rok military and do my mandatory service, upon discharge yet again find myself a worthless college dropout who cant get a decent job, go back into the corner and cry like a little baby. then i dont know what to do...

plan B - go to europe, tour around and enjoy as much as i can, then last stop France, blow away all my money... then to la legion etrangere. hopefully i will get in. if not, divert back to plan A.

I would love to go to canada as well, but the thing about the skill worker's program is that they require u to have work experience at one of the eligible occupations. Without that it's an automatic disqualification. Last time I checked I was 1 point off without the work experience.

Anyone have any ideas about the work experience requirement?

Where you are from? You could go back to your country and work in your profession and after 2 years go to Canada on the points system.

Either way, if Canada is your choice you will have to apply for your home country because you can't apply from the US as far as I know.

On the Canadian skilled worker program it can take up to 2 years to get the immigration visa so you will have to work in your home country for few years, get the work experience and then apply for a visa to Canada and wait another 2 years just to get the decision.

Much easier to marry a US citizen, as long as you entered with inspection you'll be fine.

I don't have much of an idea but here are a couple websites I found on this:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...lled/index.asp
And the self-assessment test:

Yeah sounds like I have to move back and work for a couple years before applying. Learning french will definitely help my score also. Yeah I entered with inspection so I can go with marriage route as well. We'll see.
