Found this poll over at Daily Kos. A new poll by Benenson Strategy Group found 64% of Americans support comprehensive immigration reform. When given details of CIR, the number jumps to 86% support from Americans for CIR.

The second poll number (86%) gives us some interesting results. Here's the question asked:

Quote:
One version of immigration reform that people have discussed would take a comprehensive approach. It would secure the border, crack down on employers who hire illegal immigrants, and require illegal immigrants to register for legal immigration status, pay back taxes, and learn English in order to be eligible for U.S. citizenship. Would you ... Congress passing this proposal?
This is a promising sign that new framing called "get right with the law" for legalization works to increase support. Instead of "giving a path to citizenship," the new language, "require illegal immigrants to register for legal immigration status," serves to increase support for exactly the same program when coupled with border security measures that CIR always has.

The Democratic Party website already has this language:

Quote:
For the millions living here illegally but otherwise playing by the rules, we must require them to come out of the shadows and get right with the law. We support a system that requires undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, pay taxes, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens. They are our neighbors, and we can help them become full tax-paying, law-abiding, productive members of society.

Yet another great poll on top of the last four. How long will it take Rassmussen to come up with totally different results for their Fox News crowd?

Anyway, I love this part:

Quote:
That's a stunning 29-point shift, with well over a majority of respondents "strongly approving". The Minutemen crowd, no matter how much noise it might make, is fringier than fringe. And the strongest support, crazy as it seems, comes from Republicans -- 89-11. They're probably drawn to the punitive component of comprehensive immigration reform, as well as the thought that undocumented immigrants, once legalized, "would help taxpayers by making illegal immigrants pay taxes." According to the poll, just 17 percent of respondents think such reform would be "amnesty", including just 16 percent of Republicans.
So other than wingnuts, only 1% of people have actually bought their crap. Ha ha ha.

Have they ever done a poll like this for the DA? I mean on a massive scale, not just like polling among students etc. I wonder what the numbers would be but they should be in like the high 80s.
