I think we are more like African Americans after the abolishment of slavery, but before all the civil rights movements of Dr. King, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, etc...

We are here. We hardly have any rights. They welcome us leaving, but hate it when we come back.

No. They were brought here against their own will and exploited for hundreds of years, followed by extreme discrimination. At least we didn't get lynched for stupid reasons. It's crazy to compare our situation to theirs. Our situation is much better. They were also involved in being subjects of very bad racism.

We're not slaves, so stop thinking it. No one is exploiting you because of your race.

read it again. We are not slaves, nor will ever be slaves. And I see plenty of my people (Mexicans) getting exploited for being Mexican.

Well, of course its not the same, but in some retrospects, some similiarities can be drawn. It really depends on what angle were looking at this predictament from. Example, if we drew a Venn Diagram, im sure we can find some shared attributes.

Even after emancipation, it's still not the same. We didn't have to face lynching, for example. I'm not going to go into the whole history, but if you look at the major events that led up to civil rights (bus boycott, school integration, Birmingham), I'd say that we're very different from slaves or ex-slaves.
