Been here a few time to check it out, decided to join today.

Im 19 and living in New Jersey with my family. As everyone who live in the rural suburbs knows, you cant do anything without some sort of self transportation.

I dont know if i should just drive without a licencse, but i really need to start. I know how to drive well but i know there are horrid drivers on the road.

My family owns a a franchise and i am currently paying up the A$$ to go to community college and am studying Mechanical Engineering. I got on the Dean's list, idk how big of an accomplishment that is in a community college though lol.

So. how many people drive withouth their licencse? Anyone get pulled over? Whats the deal lol. I was thinking of getting myself a street bike and using that since cops dont bother the bikes as much as cars for the most part.

In Las Vegas if you dont have a license and get pulled over to get a slap on the wrist (a ticket) and are told to get a license. The end.

I know plenty of undocumented people and that's all that ever happens.

My best friends cousin got arrested for DUI and he is undocumented and guess what? He got out next day.

Well I didn't drive for many mears after I was of legal age... I didn't want to get pulled over.. but after a while (years!) it became impossible and I was losing my mind. (I started driving in my twenties and I pray every time that I don't get pulled over)
Now I don't know about NJ, but in CA if you get pulled over the first time then you get a ticket.. so I am not too sure what happens the second time. Also if you are going to drive make sure you are EXTRA careful.. read the DMV questions and make sure you know all the answers.. know all the rules and laws, don't speed, stop at stop signs..
MAKE SURE YOUR CAR HAS INSURANCE.......

Like I said I started driving in my twenties.. part of me wishes I would have just started earlier cuz it made life a lot easier.. but at the same time Im just glad I didn't and those days are gone and nothing bad happened to me.

good luck!

I have been driving since I was 20, but try to avoid it whenever possible. In fact in the past year and a half that I have been driving, I doubt I have driven more then a hundred miles. I know that in Florida if you get pulled over the send you to court and if you do not have your license by then and are undocumented they start deportation procedures. I do not know about the state where I currently drive, Illinois, but its the suburbs, they are very simple rural like roads, nothing very crazy, so its easy.

My dad has been pulled over TWICE in Florida without a driver's license and all he got both times were tickets. I have heard of people getting deported for driving without a DL, though. He got court the second time, though.
They don't always begin deportation proceedings; sometimes you can get lucky and only pay a fine.

Umm... that was extremely lucky then. He did not even have an expired license? What was his excuse when he got pulled over.

I think it also depends when you got pulled over. I recall a couple months ago seeing over the news a report they were doing live in a place where police where stopping cars at random to check their license and those without a license where being detained until their identies could be determined. However, I think ICE was involved in this one. Right now things have calmed down considerably... I think, I mean I have not seen as many road blocks as I recall seeing while I attended high school. about 2 years ago.

The first time, he had an expired license and it was taken away. The second time, he had nothing and had to go to court. And he didn't make up any excuse. When they asked him if he had a DL, he simply said "no." My dad knows better than to lie to a cop.
My uncle also got pulled over not too long ago, and I think he just got a ticket, no court.

I do know of a guy that got deported when he was caught without a DL, but he's back now. heh. I'm sure he's driving, too.

Yeah, I heard about that, too, maybe it's the same one? I think it was in Sebastian.. I'm not sure, but it was right off I-95, on the exit, I believe.

Where area did you live in?

Miami, about 155 miles south of sebastian from what I see on google maps.

I think this one took place on the streets of miami, I have also seen them stopping cars at random on my way to school about once or twice per week (fortunately I took the school bus, but once my dad had to drop me and it was a bit scary, we were lucky they were apparently too busy and let several cars go without completing the check.)

Wow, I have never seen that happen where I used to live. I heard about that small town of Sebastian a few weeks ago. I guess they set up a checkpoint for a day.
Miami is awesome, why did you move away?

yeah, they had a road block set up about 2-3 a month in the same place for a few months.

I moved away only technically (as far as establishing a legal residence), I attend a university in Chicago full time, I come back to miami only during summer and winter breaks to work.

p.s., I am not crazy about the humid heat of south florida either...
