Does anyone know if the energy bill is controversial?

As of health care, its a must pass for president obama. He needs a victory in this to win the second term. From what i have been reading, the bill is not close. Both sides need to give up something to reach for an agreement.

Unfortunately, once again =/ Energy bill will be coupled with Climate change. With imposition of carbon tax on major industries you can bet your horses this is going to be another tough fight with republicans supporting none of it and with democrats in industrial provinces backing out of it (blue collar dogs).

The current energy bill is such pansy piece of legislation that if the republicans rail against it I think would be just too much. So on scale of time consumption I think it should be somewhere in the mid-bottom.

I think the immigration reform debate will "start" this year, but mainly take place early next year. Everything has basically faded away as the health care debate has heated up.

My predication is one of the houses may pass a bill this year, but it depends on the economy and the result of the health care debate.

You better believe they will rail against it. They are not interested in legitimate debate or opposition, they just want to make Obama and the Democratic administration look bad. I mean look at the health care debate, the bills are not radically liberal the Single-payer option was not even debated at all, yet the Republicans are fiercely against it.
