I was born in Kingston, Jamaica and we've been here 21 years (I was brought here when I was two).

We overstayed our tourist visas too.

I have a mind boggling question for freshhh........ If u have been here for over 21 years, I am assuming you or your parents were here when the first amnesty was passed in 1986? How did you not take advantage of that?

uggh... the really annoying thing with my family is that my dad was in the US during the 80s, and left to go back to colombia about 1-2 years before the amnesty took effect. Just another instance when it almost happened for my family

btw, that amnesty applied only for people that resided continuously before 01-01-1982

I've been here exactly 21 years, not over 21 years.

The only person who benefited from the '86 amnesty was my grandfather because he'd been here since the '70s.

Yea, and for the last Amnesty you had to have been in the country for the previous 5 years

I was born in Kenya, and came to the states when i was 3 years old. I have been here ever since. I am 18 years old and I have applied to schools, but due to my status they could not proceed on my application.

I think that browsing this site you will realize that most people are attending some sort of school and most do not have a ssn. This applying to schools can be tricky business when you do not know anyone in the same situation and do not speak out. My guess is that you have not asked the schools about how to apply in your situation, don't be afraid, most will probably tell you to apply as an international or give you instructions on how to circumvent the ssn portion or any other portion that conflicts with your status.
good luck.
