Tomorrow afternoon a group of organizers will be meeting with Congressman Brad Sherman and asking him to co-sponsor the DREAM Act in the House. His neighboring congressman, Howard Berman in CD 28 has, of course, sponsored the Act. Both CA Senators are cosponsors. Getting Congressman Sherman on board will help build the momentum we need to get this bill out of committee, on to the floor for a vote, and then to the President's Desk...

If you live in the San Fernando Valley in California, would you call Congressman Sherman and ask him to support the Act? His district office number is 818.501.9200... If you call after the office closes, please leave a message, and then call again tomorrow morning. Thanks!

This is my first time calling any senator. I got a little nervous and stuttered a bit, but it was alright lol. I was going to call on my cell phone but the fires over the mountain block the signal. Hopefully they don't track my house phone! lol

I urge everyone on the forum to call, at least once. This is something you can do RIGHT NOW to help our cause-- from the comfort your home! Call, read the text on the banner, and say you called. Who's with me? :]

Wow! Thanks everyone... last time I checked the thread no one had responded... but you totally turned out. The meeting went ok, but Congressman Sherman declined to sign on as a co-sponsor immediately because he wanted to check with Congressman Conyers about the CIR/ Dream Act alone debate/strategy. At the time, I couldn't 100% remember if Conyers was a co-sponsor, and so I didn't say... but of course he is one of the original co-sponsors. I could really use help following up by letter/ call to let him know that information.

Sorry for the delay responding. I've been sick, and I hadn't checked the forums. If you can call his offices at (202) 225-5911 or (81 501-9200. Say that you know he is considering co-sponsoring and that you heard he was concerned about Congressman John Conyers' position, so you wanted to be sure that he knows that Conyers is a current co-sponsor and so he (Sherman) should become one too.

I called when you posted that.

But you know, what really made it easy was reading the quote on the flier, and adding my own thoughts in between.
