Thanks for all those that participated in the Day of Action. It was definitely a great experience coordinating with so many Dreamers, some who I first met in DAP.

It definitely did not go as well as it could have, but a lot of that is due to the overwhelming response we got from people. Some people registered actions and then dropped off the map, so we gotta work on that as well. We will be announcing a new action day soon, and we are working with Durbin's office to set the date.

We got good media coverage. Unfortunately we did not hit the national press, but we did get good articles in smaller markets. Here's all the links to the media coverage: http://www.dreamactivist.org/media-c...ct-day-action/

Outlets included:
- The Technician (North Carolina State)
- The Daily Lobo (University of New Mexico)
- KRQE News 13 (New Mexico)
- Denver Daily News
- Houston Chronicle
- The Daily Texan (University of Texas)
- The Ledger (Florida)
- The Gainesville Sun
- Channel 13 Central Florida
- The Independent Florida Alligator (University of Florida)
- Orlando Sentinel
- Seattle Times
- Free Speech Radio News
- Channel 4 Seattle
- NY Daily News
- Dallas Morning News
- LA Times Blogs
- La Opinion
- Chicago Now
- The Daily News Record (Virginia)
- eNews Forest Park (Illinois)

As much as I like to see media coverage of the dream act, let's keep in mind that there was also coverage back in 2003. Media coverage alone cannot shed reason to the majority of misinformed Americans that are frustrated, angry, and desperate over the way their nation is transforming. It is always foreigners and undocumented people (in the 1920s The Rise of The Coloured Empire was a popular read that raised fear and apprehension towards "pigment"), which are easier to single out and scapegoat in times of desperation.

As a recently graduated business student, I fear the worst of the depression is yet to come, and CIR seems like a long shot to sell to the American people, unless they come to their senses and see that embracing immigration and treating as a pool of labor, talent, consumption and production, is in their best interest.

Keep up the media coverage and TALKING TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW about the issue. As hard as that seems to do, lawyers, teachers, doctors, and everyday public citizens that I've talked to have been more than sympathetic to illegal immigration- especially when it's right in front of their face talking them. Of course, use discretion and listen to your gut if a person shouldn't know.

You are definitely right, trovales. That's why it's great that the majority of the actions were much more focused on community engagement than gaining media coverage.

On the economic note, the point that CIR will actually benefit the US economically is hard to sell and counter-intuitive to most people, but definitely one we should be making along with other justifications for DREAM.

This is great but I'm actually disappointed that major newspapers such as USA Today or NYT didn't do a story on it...

I agree with you that it was great, but not quite there. It's one of the best coordinated coverage we've gotten. Did you get to go to one of the actions?
