I'm curious right now... I'm loosing so much and everything I've given seems to be for nothing. Besides the economy and crime what is there so bad about it.

I wanted to do military and there seems to be a lot of "action there" so I was wondering if there is any sort of special forces, or if their military gives benefits like our military.

Nothing, if you've got the nuts for it, I say go.

I believe they even provide free college in Mexico City.

I've talked to a few cousins in Mexico City about college. Appearanly, it's not free, but very affordable (even for those already in Mexico). I'm sure they do scholarships (becas, in Spanish) because I had some when I was in elementary school.

Everyone that I know in Mexico or has visited Mexico loves it.
I am actually really excited and looking foward to going back to Mexico.
According to a family member that went back to Mx after five years in the US, the worst part of going back for is that you have to get used to struggling to pay bills. It's really difficult to find a job, unless you are young.

Also, they don't maintain the roads, there is trash everywhere (at least in the Mexico DF), and of course, there is the corrupt government/police.

The military probably does have some benefits, but they won't compare to the benefits that the U.S. military offers.

I tried going back to Mexico when I was 18. I was thinking of just staying over there to build my life. However, reality set in quite fast. I realized that getting into a decent university is quite difficult and expensive (relative to how much you'll make). You also have to face the language barrier. There is a huge difference between speaking/writing every day Spanish and the technical Spanish that you will need to know at the University level. Really think about all of this.

As far as the military goes, remember all the crazy shit that is taking place; the drug wars, ect. Just think about it before you make such a huge decision.

Have you been watching the news? The drug cartels are very powerful in that nation and corruption is rampant... People's heads get cut off and innocent people get gunned down... It looks like it's a big mess over there.

I am in Mexico. I work at a good company and I am currently working towards a Master's degree. I'm honestly living a pretty happy life here.

Mexico's north is pretty rough because of the cartels and stuff. There are places where there is less action and you can live pretty peacefully.I have been living here for more than a year with no issues whatsoever with anything. Granted, I dont live in the big cities (DF, Monterrey, Guadalajara).

As a waged employee, the economy has had little-to-no-effect on me.

TX DREAM,

Why go to Mexico when Texas offers pretty good help to undocumented students to attend college. I'd try to explore this route before considering going to Mexico.

Check out http://www.cheis.net/ for some good info.

Should you do the research, you should find that the U.S. is the a huge factor in this "problem". Not only the image of making Mexico looking like some "hopeless" third world country, but the fact that the cartels attained many assault rifles, sophisticated machine guns, etc, going down south from the U.S. Border.....Mexico's image and economy is a complicated kind......the cartels that unfortunately transfer their "product" up north towards the U.S. border ends up in the hands of many Americans which are the main consumers and furthermore increasing U.S. presence in Mexico and responsibilities that go hand in hand.....such as empowering the infamous cartels, high levels of crime, etc.....

Well, College seems pretty hard to keep up with (I Really want to keep learning though), especially when I'm struggling to just keep up helping pay the bills. As for the military I wanted to do it here then go to college, I'm pretty sure I'd be having the same risk either way except the whole government corruption issue. Plus its killing me living in these chains, honestly I bet most of you guys are sick to your gut being illegal. I rather die than not have freedom to be a normal citizen. Its like while everyone else moves forward your stuck in this cage. Really it makes me feel horrid.
