Do we need valid passport for the Dream act? My passport has expired 2 years ago and I m anticipating for the dream act to pass. I can't renew the passport due to the country reason (army).

I have all the eligibility but not sure about the passport thing.

Thanks

You will probably need some way to identify yourself and a passport would be a good way to do it (though not the only way)

hmmm...i'm wondering the same thing. i have an expired visa and passport with me, and i'm hesitating to renew it because then the consular will find out i overstayed. i'm just waiting for DA to pass before i could get everything renewed.

BTW, one question, will we be allowed to travel overseas during our probation period (when DA gets passed of course)? just wondering.

It is most likely that you will need your home country passport. Today, you need a valid/unexpired passport to adjust your status in the US. It only makes sense since that is the only way to identify where you are from. It also is an accepted form of identifcation internationally. A driver's license will not be sufficient. I'm pretty sure anyone can get a new/or renewed passport from your country's consulate or embassy even if you are out of status.

The thing is, I do have an unexpired passport. But if I do try to renew my passport, then I need to go back to korea for the army. I wanna stay here and live as an American.
