...would you believe my PASTOR suggested that I marry soon so I can be legal? He DID say, rather, to fall in love fast with a good man so I can be legal, but we all know what he meant either way.

I told my boyfriend that government has no place in marriage. I told him that even if we were both ready and financially stable (ha), we'd wait until I'm legal to get married. God willing, I'll be legal before I'm 30... and not have been deported.

A lot of people who have suggested marriage are people who don't understand what that means. Not the marriage but what happens when you try to be a citizen after marriage. They think "OH ILLEGAL ALIEN MARRiED IS NAO CITIZEN YEAH" and that's just not how it goes. I explained to each of my friends that I would be monitored so that the government gets to judge if the marriage was legit or not. They all understood that a GC doesn't just magically appear after marriage after I explained it to them.

I blame the media for their darn 'army dude married this Korean girl and now they're married happily with the girl as a true American'. Gaaaah

LOL @ your pastor. That doesn't surprise me. I've had a lawyer look me in the face and say that my options were "DA or to meet and marry a nice USC."

I've even had my parents' friends offer up their sons for marriage. Thank God I was never that desperate or stupid. I'd rather self-deport than marry anybody to get my GC. I'll wait for DA and if it doesn't get passed within the next 2-3 years, I'll immigrate.

Yes some of my friends and other people said the same thing too: find a girl to marry and get yourself a citizenship

But what I am thinking is: no way. Because I don't want other people feel I am disgusting, marrying a woman just for my own benefit - I am not like government - I don't do unjust act for the sake of my own.

Well think about it this way; most of us will eventually marry unless you want to be single the rest of your life. If you can find someone that you love and is a US citizen then why not. Unless you want to be living in this shithole your entire life, then let's hurry up and find someone to make a life with.

I can agree with this if the person also loves you back. The fact is the way how the current system works will likely ensure that most dreamers will take this route if reform is not underway[provided they legally came in the first place].

I have also been given marriage suggestions whether, friends, family, lawyers & even a Uscis employee, but imo if you're not ready to take that big step at the time,it isn't worth it.

Yea it sounds like a the fastest and easiest way to mess up your life. I would only marry a US citizen if I was madly in love with him and I was sure that he was Mr. Perfect.

Why does everyone believe that it's impossible to get a GC through marriage if you came in without inspection? It's difficult but very possible.

I dont know
so u ?
But there has to be a point, at least in my view, where credit has to be given where due.

And I have received nothing but grief from the Setimods...........my language at times has been crude......but they could just delete the offending posts and move on instead of engaging me in argument. And then banning my ass for weeks on end.
