House and Senate briefings for congressional staff about the DREAM Act are scheduled for Friday, October 23. The goal of these events is to educate staff about the bill and answer any questions.

Invited Panelists:

Louis Caldera, senior fellow, Center for American Progress
Dr. Robert G. Templin, Jr., president, Northern Virginia Community College
Herta Llusho, student
Noe Guzman, student
Please support these events by making sure staff from your congressional representative's office will attend.

If your representative or one or both of your senators is NOT a cosponsor, please call him or her and ask the immigration staffer to attend the congressional briefing about the DREAM Act scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2009. A list of representatives in the House whom we are targeting is available here.

The briefing in the Senate is scheduled from 11 AM to 1 PM in SC 6 (in the U.S. Capitol building).
The briefing in the House of Representatives is scheduled from 2 to 4 PM in Room 2141 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

That is a small, but promising step. I am using it as an opportunity to call my representatives in House and Senate to urge them to attend the briefing and cosponsor the DREAM Act.

It's exciting that Dreamies are actually going to involved in the panel. I always think, if only some people in power could hear our personal stories. This is good.

It's good to hear that some Dreamies will be apart of the panel. I hope they read this and really give it their all like its their last words or something.

A lot of these congress people have heard the same typical "they brought me and I've been in school and really want to make something out of myself blah blah blah blah."

Make it more like a lifetime movie and overly dramatic if you can. Some of us get abused by our families ,going insane,lonely,etc....

lol

I think this has been already posted but, just a reminder that the good folks over at dreamactivist.org are doing "A Dream in Every District" which is basically calling in or meeting with local reps and senators, urging them to pass the bill.
