Hi everyone. Background on me, I'm 20 and I was brought here by my parents when I was 5 from Mexico on tourist visas. I was wondering if anyone here has applied to a nursing programs and how they went about it with our undocumented status. I really really REALLY want to be a nurse and I'm starting to think that I may not be able to because we get shit on because we were brought here as babies and had no idea what was going on...sorry I just get really angry about it. Anyway, help!

I am applying to two Nursing Programs right now. For the University application and the Program application I just left the SSN question blank. I am submitting my applications Oct 30. Just remember that for the applications they will charge you international or nonresident. Good Luck!

Don't forget to turn in the AB540 applications in with your school application.

I couldn't go through nursing because AZ state needs legal status to get (nursing) license. They also do background and DUI checks on students before admitting. Not sure about nursing schools on other states though.

I live in California and attending Nursing program isn't a problem here.

We CAN pass background check guys!!!

we just come up blank on one of the checks they do for SSN. It is up to the head of nursing department to either trust us or not to trust us. The head of nursing in my nursing program decided to just trust me and she said there were others like me in the program now and even before. So it's definitely possible, especially in California. CSU or state colleges are cheaper so definitely apply. I found out recently you have a pretty high chance of getting a Nursing License as well if you apply with ITIN. Vermont will definitely give you nursing license without SSN. So there are ways, just have to apply to a nursing school and let them know your situation and see if the head of nursing is okay with it.
