Good morning folks, today marks a very important day for all of us in our fight towards immigration reform. The House is all set to vote on a FINAL BILL after a long day of debate today. It is looking extremely positive so far because pro-life democrats against giving coverage for abortion will be given a chance to offer an amendment. This is one of the highly debated issues in this bill. No republicans are expected to vote for the bill. This is where our democratic majority comes into play...Lets keep our fingers crossed and we will have the 218 votes necessary to pass this bill!!

WASHINGTON -- The House of Representatives headed toward a historic vote on a bill overhauling the health-care system after House Democrats late Friday cleared an abortion-related impasse that had threatened to block the vote.

The debate is off to a bad start, the Republicans are using every rules of order in the history of the House of Representative to stop debate.

It was unclear how I said it. Yes, it is the House version of the Health Care bill which is up for vote. Hopefully the vote will happen today or it might get delayed for couple of days. It's really a huge moment because this is the major issue contributing to the delaying of immigration reform. After this, we will have to wait for the Senate to pass its own version.

Finally. They had kept this bill stalling for months. The sooner they get to the HCR passing, the sooner they'll start working on CIR.

Good news indeed

^According to politico there seem to be at least 34 democrats against so far.
Quote:
With just hours remaining until an historic vote on a sweeping health-care reform measure Saturday evening, at least 34 Democrats have said they will vote against the bill as of 8:45 p.m., according to a POLITICO analysis.

Just six more “no” votes would be enough to sink the bill if Republicans maintain, as expected, a solid front of opposition. Still, Democratic sources are signaling that they have secured the majority of the caucus and expect to pass the bill tonight.

While the reasons these Democrats have offered for opposing the $1.2 trillion bill vary, they nearly all share a common trait—they are among the most politically vulnerable incumbents in the House, and they tend to represent conservative-minded seats that John McCain won in 2008.

Of the 34 no votes, 27 are members who represent seats carried by McCain—including all 11 Democratic members who hail from districts where McCain won 60 percent or more of the vote. Four of the remaining seven are freshmen Democrats sitting in seats that were Republican-held until 2008.
However, according to The Hill an aide mentions they have the votes.
Quote:
Democratic leaders believe they have the votes to pass their historic, $1 trillion healthcare plan Saturday night, Democratic sources said.

"We have the votes," said a senior Democratic aide.

Though leaders feel comfortable, the margin is narrow. Aides said leaders are confident they have the 218 votes they need, but at the very least they want to find a 219th vote so that no one member can be considered the decisive vote.

They are also concerned about a Republican amendment, called a "motion to recommit." Republicans won’t disclose the content of that amendment until minutes before it must be voted on, but Democrats are concerned that Republicans might try to exploit a divide that has emerged in their party on immigration.
On the highlighted part this should be immigration, lol.; P

Check out www.barackobama.com

Can't wait for the passage at the Senate. This President knows what he's doing. He is definitely going to sign it by end of this year..that is for sure.

The Democratic has a problem. There are democrats against the bill too. What frustrated me the most is that the leaders are too liberal and too democratic.

Obama did not want to give the undocumented immigrants the benefit from this reform. Simply put, he tried to show fairness to those who came here legally, as well as a way to reduce the budget.

However, Democratic leaders were too liberal and too conservative with the purpose of "health care reform'. They included the undocumented into the bill and now we are hitting a big obstacle. The Democratic just lost three states this week and we cannot afford the frustration. This frustration is growing - rumor said Democrats did not want to pass the immigration reform bills because they are afraid doing so will harm their election next year 2010.

This is indeed true and we need to consider this. I am an undocumented student. I don't mind about paying an insurance plan myself. I have an insurance plan, very good one at a cheap price. I think it is because I live in NYC, we have more plans to choose. But to keep the humanity aside, what is more important is to get a legal status and work outside the shadow. We can get a legal job and earn more money. The balance is that the sooner we get a legal job, the sooner we can build our lives.

Education is an investment but we need the return. These democratics are hurting themselves not because they advocates immigration reforms, but because they simply did not follow the logic. They will blame us in the end, and delay the immigration reform if that's the case.

Obama is a wise man, but unfortunately the leaders are too democratic.
