House health care bill has nowhere to go in Senate

It was to good to last. It looks like the senate won't even debate the bill.

I've been trying to be positive. I really have. But if the government is basically killing this bill, which would HELP U.S. Residents and Citizens, I don't see how an immigration bill would fair much better. All these DREAM's are slowly fading away for me....

It does seem like an uphill battle for the Senate. However, I have 100% faith in Obama and his negotiating skills. I'm sure Harry Reid will be successful in getting a bill to the floor. I really don't understand Lieberman's position. The bill clearly states that the states can opt out of the government-run public option. This should be a good compromise considering the amount of debate it has generated for the past few weeks. At this point, it just seems impossible that nothing will reach Obama's desk. Something is bound to happen by end of the year...I honestly don't see any other alternative.

Don't be discouraged yet. They still have debate and do the whole compromising thing.

Immigration is much easier than health care reform. There's more bipartisanship in immigration than in this health bill. Schumer is co-writing the immigration with Graham right know. This health care bill was 100% partisan.

The senate already has their verison of the bill. They aren't going to debate or vote on the House health care bill. When the Senate passes their bill, then the conference committee will reconcile the differences between the two bills so a final bill can be made.

The comments by Sen. Graham about the House bill being dead on arrival are stupid, because the House bill was never going to be debated in the Senate in the first place. That is why they have spent the last 3 months crafting a bill.

There has been so much gloom and doom about healthcare over the past few months, and most of it has been baseless fear. Lawmakers may be slow, but they know what they are doing.

The real tussle isnt getting the 60 votes, its getting all the democrats and independants to vote to end debate.

Once debate ends all you need is 51 votes. In other words, even though some moderate senators may vote against the bill as per the wishes of the district, they should atleast go along party lines and call for end to debate (prevent filibuster).
