pardon the negativity of this thread, but i've gotten to the point where I never thought I'd get. At the end of this semester, I'm gonna get my AA degree. Community College was tough, but doable. It seems like I'm not gonna be able to transfer to a four year and I just don't know what to do. I got a 4.0 gpa but it almost means nothing now.

I honestly don't know what my life is gonna be like 2 months from now. I don't even know where i'm gonna be living.

But I do have a question. It's something that's been asked hundreds of times before, but we still feel the need to ask, hoping that someone is gonna say something specific to us that'll help us: If i'm in Houston once the new year starts, how feasible would it be to get a job? Would having my AA help? and what do you suggest I do if I can't go to school (I need a way to make connections, get a job, network and get a social life)?

you should not give up on college, maybe you already know this but here in texas we (dreamies) can get state financial aid its not alot but at least it lightens the burden.

cheer up things will eventually get better.

yeah...dont give up on school..to delay school means to build the suffering in the future(my opinion)...u kno, in soCal..AA degree is not good enough, becasue u gonna compete w some BAs and MAs..or at least..AA with 2-5 years working experiences then u're good enough...

believe me...everybody here is feeling the same, at least i do..struggle, hit the wall n fall..its okay..we're human...but try to get back up again, n again..never gives up...

i always use this techniques for myself
-dont think too much, just shut up n doit
-if bored,find something fun..like sleeping
-if too stressed out...take a break, watch some movies
-and if i feel despair...then i find somethin to make me busy enough so i will forget feeling anything(hahaha..its always worked)...n find somebody to talk to..

anyway..cheer up..

It sucks that in FL you are not given an opportunity to continue your education after HS.
Seriously consider moving to a state that allows undocumented students to pay in-state tuition. After you finish high school, think about it. California, for example, is a state that has AB540, and under this, you must have attended and graduated a CA high school. But you know what? Since CA has so many students using AB540, sometimes they don't even really check this. I took a friend of mine to a community college in Santa Ana, CA, and it was the easiest thing. They din't even ask for proof of HS graduation. I would hate to see you WAIT. WAIT does not exist. I don't believe in waiting, be it be for the dream act or whatever. You cannot just WAIT. Find a way to continue your education. Forget about waiting. Research this idea a little bit more, be smart about it and really plan it out and think about this option. A trait that all undocumented students with a dream have is that when many say NO, we find a way. WE TAKE THEIR BEST SHOT, AND STILL WE STAND. If have any questions, send me a private message. Don't give up.

I think you should just try to remain positive and wait it out. Next year things will definitely change for you and all of us. Till then, just be proud of your accomplishments in community college and believe that everything will be solved very soon.

Also, Don't you need to graduate from high school from the specific state in order to be eligible for in state tuition?
