Bruised by the health care debate and worried about what 2010 will bring, moderate Senate Democrats are urging the White House to give up now on any effort to pass a cap-and-trade bill next year.

If this is true, then immigration reform may be the central issue of early 2010 after a jobs/financial bill is passed in the senate.

That would be great. But what are the odds of the White House dropping cap and trade?

I think they will not drop the cap-trade. They will do it after immigration, since some of their voters are very supportive on cap&trade issue.
