I am a dreamer, who just realized how hard life is when you are undocumented. I'm a freshman in high school and i had a great opportunity. I was chosen to go to a program in which only on freshman gets to go. It was in a national facility and it was going to help me a lot towards college applications in the future. I soon discovered that only Us citizens and permanent residents can go. I explained to my teachers that I am undocumented and tried to give them the application back, but they won't give up on me. They are trying to do everything they can. They are trying to change the rules in that program and one of them is seeking for help or advice from the members of the church. I went over it and realized that life is going to have many obstacles. One of my teachers even told me that they had a plan for me. I would finish high school and then go to college and there life might give the the chance of knowing a nice us citizen that i might get married to. I told them that i won't be able to go to college because i won't be able to accept a scholarship or any kind of financial aid. That teacher just said that they would make a fundraisers if its necessary, but that I would achieve my dreams. My teachers are supporting me 100% and I have a positive attitude towards my future. I researched about what could i do to become legal (I came with a tourist vise and overstayed) and I found this website. I realized that if there is no dream act i would have to follow my teachers plan. I decided to do whatever I can to support the dream act, so if anyone can guide me or tell me what to do it would be great.

welcome. first of all, you still can get scholarships. there are many, many different kinds out there, and not all of them require you to be a citizen. talk to a counselor about finding ones that can help you out.

second, depending on where you live, you might be able to go to community college without a problem. it's easier if youre in california but do a little research around the forum about which states offer you in-state tuition instead of the expensive out-of-state.

yeah life is harder for all of us but i think it makes us stronger than the average person who takes all their rights for granted. and having good friends helps out a lot, so keep that in mind.

thanks for the advice. I guess you are right. I live in new york and I know that there is in state tuition. I'm going to look for scholarships that I can use because there are many different private scholarships in my area, so i guess ill just start looking for the right one. Is there any way I could help the dream act?? I already have the support of many teachers in my school, so i guess that's some sort of start
