Temporary License

Has anyone flown with one of these before? I got my driver's license in NM, but I need to fly soon, and the actual card has not arrived in the mail. Do you think that it would be safe to fly with this temporary card? It shows my picture, date of birth, etc. Does anyone have any experience flying with a temp? Thanks!

i heard somewhere that the NM driver's license is not an acceptable form of ID for boarding an airplane since it does not comply with the REAL id act. but like i said i'm not 100% percent on that just wanted to let you know that.

Thanks for the feedback. It was speculated for some time that the ID or DL was not going to be allowed at airports because of the REAL ID Act. The state of New Mexico, along with a bunch of other states, were able to get an extension until May 2011 to be in compliance with the act, though. So it will be possible to fly with it. I just don't know the complications of flying with their temporary driver's license, but I guess I will figure that out sooner or later. (Just clearing up the whole REAL ID act stuff with NM)
