I am currently half way through in a nursing program in California. Although my school is a 2 year community college nursing program I researched into transferring to a CSU for a bridge RN to BSN program and it actually works out fine. Because of AB540, they can't reject us as students. As long as you talk to the head of nursing department ahead of time and let her know in private about your status, it should be okay. There's no reason why they should reject a student in nursing program based on their legal status when AB540 is in place. As far as NCLEX is concerned I have heard and confirmed it with the board of registered nursing in California that you can use your ITIN to take the test. Whether they will give the license to your ITIN will depend case by case but chances are pretty high from what I hear. So don't lose hope, if nursing is your passion and this is what you want to do, DO IT! It's a great career and it opens up so many doors.... so so so many doors as a nurse. Even if we all get deported, English speaking RN with a bachelors degree is an asset to most countries out there. Ask me if you have any questions.
Hey geronimo, have you ever asked an advisor at your school how easy it is for people of our status to get nursing jobs when they finish their degree? Is it typical for recent graduates to find an employer to sponsor them?

I'm living at a state where they don't let undocumented people into the nursing programs. I'm considering moving to CA to get an associate's in nursing, but I don't want to make that big step only to find out that I can't get work with it. (Also, I don't know if I can get in-state tuition if I graduated HS at another state)
