This is perhaps the best 10 minutes of television I've seen this whole year. Rachel hits the nail on the head: Republicans will not support any legislation no matter how practical and effective it might be. It's not in their best interest, and they think that Americans are too stupid to realize the hypocrisy of it all.

Rachel's advice in the end is by far the most viable solution for Democrats.

God, I love this woman. Maddow and Olbermann are beyond doubt the smartest people on TV.

It's clear what the republicans are doing. The last thing they want is for President Obama to be successful. Of course they won't help pass any legislation, even if they know it's good for the country. It's sickening.

I find the hypocrisy amusing and revolting at the same time (kind of like when a buddy outfarts anyone in the room). Yet I have to wonder, having the stimulus package pass and republicans not praise it after receiving the money would have been a big hypocrisy as well. Would not having praised it deter the federal government from giving them the money? And would rejecting the money on "moral" grounds have effects on constituents voting for said representative's party's reelection?

Had they rejected it, come election time, their opponents could have pointed to the millions of dollars in federal aid that never made it to their local communities because of the demagoguery of Republican elected officials. So in a way, they were boxed in since they would've had to lie either way.
