This bill will not conveniently be ready in time for your graduation. There are dozens of people on this very board who can attest to that. I'm one of them.

As it is right now, this forum is a wailing wall for our experiences and a pin board for hopeful articles. There is wailing and waiting and then there is doing. Wailing only results in more wailing while doing gets you where you want to go.

This place will not last unless you get in the habit of helping, because honestly it takes so little time and effort to help that you have no excuse not to. I'm doing my part, are you? http://dreamact.info/advocacy

If you are seeing this as a new member, please accept my apology for a not so warm welcome. However, the overall message applies to you too.

Thank you!!!!!!

Recently I've been hearing some complaints about this forum and how most people here seem to only be sitting around and waiting for reform to pass, without actually doing something to help it get passed in the first place. It somewhat hurt me to hear those comments, because I like this website and I think that there's a lot of bright and intelligent people here who could be doing so much to help out. But it hurt me because it struck me as true. And I also heard complaints of the people who ARE out there and fighting for this cause, that they sometimes feel like they're doing so much and there are some who, even though they'll benefit from it, aren't appreciating it at all.

The Advocacy section of this forum is hardly the only option out there to be helpful, but it's a great way to get started if you don't really know where else to go or what to do right now. I know I personally am far from an example when it comes to Advocacy points (seeing as I haven't done any research here), but just because I haven't done work in one place doesn't mean I haven't in others. I'm just pointing this out so as to let you know to simply follow my advice without judging me.

You guys could be doing a lot. I'm always following PMBS. I always try to read news and articles concerning our issue, share them with all my friends, and comment on them. Putting yourself out there and meeting as many people as you can will only improve your influence as an Activist.

Start a blog. Discuss the current state of things, share your opinions, read more, get informed more, find other Activists and get together with them to improve your blogging and make it more appealing to readers.

Find actions in your area. Go to events. Support. Let others help you and teach you important skills like communicating and public speaking. Don't be afraid, be confident. Fight for what you WANT, fight for what's going to benefit you, don't just sit and wait for things to get better! Be a fighter, be a DREAMer! We are only going to get something accomplished if EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US gets up and acts like a GROUP, like a FAMILY.

I'm going to Orlando on the 1st and I have every intention in finding the actions going on in there that week, and joining them. I know it's scary, to go out and put it out there that you're undocumented. I UNDERSTAND that fear. But that fear isn't going to get you ANYWHERE. And as long as you're not doing anything WRONG or illegal, nothing will happen to you.

We have power here, in this forum. We are a handful of bright young people. Just look at us; we all write with such confidence, we know how to make our point across, we know how to discuss, we read and for the most part we are all informed and well aware of how the government works. We are not dumb. I know that most of you in here, like me, learned everything you know by yourselves, through lots of research and reading.

All of that are skills! Don't fool yourselves and think otherwise! Put those skills to use!

Let's get together, people. Let's be united. United We Dream, United We Fight, United We Win. Right?

I have faith in all of you, and I believe in all of you. And I love all of you, too. ♥

I understand the frustration to get this bill passed. There are actions that are being made, however are not publicly announced through forums like these. It is a known fact that this bill cannot pass unless we convince our senators/ representatives on the importance of it-- not only for us but for this country.

This past weekend (February 20) I attended a Michigan Dream Camp in the University of Michigan. [There are other states who have also made an effort to gather people for these trainings.] The purpose for these trainings is to built leadership to organize and be able to confront our congressmen with our urge to pass the Dream Act.

Since you've taken the liberty to post names of congressmen; I will research each one that needs research for and e-mail them.

I keep hearing of all this "activity" that is going on. I'd like to see the events you describe listed it in one place, then we'll have hard data and a reason to believe that we are making progress or a reason to wake up and realize what mess we are in. What I think is actually happening is that there are a few hundred people who are absolutely working their butts off giving hope to the rest who are just waiting for it to rain green cards. The problem is that a few hundred people means nothing to Congressmen when there are 600,000 people in each district.

Creating a place to post events that are happening around the nation is next on my radar. The problem is that I can only build it, its up to this community to step up and fill in the blanks. That is why I'm stressing getting into the habit of contributing.

If you can find time for Facebook, and lets face it, everyone magically does, you can spend ten minutes doing something that might help get this bill out the door. I've stopped using Facebook and other social networking sites for this exact reason, I wanted to have my time to actually do something useful.

DREAM Act actions are occurring ALL over the US this week. thru other organizations such as mecha, RIFA (reform immigration for america), UWD (united we dream) ect. just google these things, network and get involved.

Also MARCH is COMING out month. TELL TELL TELL your STORIES. our narratives HAVE power.

(I^2)R=P Individual Immigration Reform = POWER

We all need to individually take steps to make change happen!
